This week we started our new topic about shapes. Looking at shapes in the environment helps us to learn and understand that shapes can represent objects. We are going to make a wall display with lots of shapes so look out for it....
On the craft table, we looked at drawing and cutting out shapes, particularly triangles and squares. Some children put these shapes to gether to make houses just like those in the village!
On the carpet, we constructed a very looooong train track for our trains to travel on.
We looked at matching and identifying numbers and quantity. We used different toys in preschool , counting them and trying to work out which number represents which small group. We also looked at making comparisons between quantity and learnt that numbers can identify how many are in a set.
We have spent time running through the jolly phonics songs which is great fun and helps us to learn our letters and sounds.
This week we have been making our own playdough and everybody joined in.
And finally the weather has been nice enough to get out into our garden and play with some new pots and pans for our mud kitchen.
