This week we have been looking at making scenery for our nativity play. We are looking at star shapes and rectangles; beginning to categorise shapes according to size and property is something we learn at an early age and noticing shapes in the environment is something we try to do in preschool. We have also made some sand dunes for our scenery, we used gloopy glue and glue sticks and then sprinkled sand onto the glue - come in and have a look! Learning to control simple tools to effect change is a skill we can learn at preschool.
On the construction table, we played with the blocks. Blocks are a brilliant way for us to develop our gross and fine motor skills because we get to handle things of different sizes and we can try to make them balance
On the writing table, some of the children practised writing their names ready for their Christmas cards. We looked at all the letters we have learnt so far at preschool and had a story that was about some of the characters we have met like inky mouse and the snake.
Letter and sound of the week this week is "g"
