Our Monday session will be spent in the garden, enjoying a "Mucky Monday" and all the learning we can experience through outside play.
This week in pre-school we will be baking. This will help us develop our gross motor skills and will help us start to develop an interest in ordering by weight or capacity. Role play is very exciting as we are going to look at our Nativity. We will be learning the songs and becoming familiar with the story. We are looking ay number recognition and starting to enjoy our numbers by matching them to quantity, We will be opening a baker's in the home corner which will also help us. Literacy is all around in pre-school. A selection of pens and paper and some magic tracing paper will be available to encourage an interest in writing our name. Linked with this, one of the stories we read was "Temper Temper"
On the craft table, we have been practicing our cutting skills and have looked through lots of pictures and cut out our favourite things. We have used the abacus and the number fan and a number puzzle to help us with number recognition and accurate counting. Sound of the week this week is "ch" This week on the craft table we have been working hard on our masterpieces for a very special day on Sunday. We used our hands to make prints, enjoyed scrunching up tissue paper and did some very clever cutting with scissors.

Earlier in the week we looked at people doing dragon dances on the computer and then we all had a go at doing our own dragon dance. We have had the num,ber tray out and some children practised writing their own numbers. Learning how to represent numbers in marks is something we start at preschool. On the construction table, we played with the Maxi Coloredo - matching designs to colours and shapes. We've also had the popoids out and played with the dinosaurs - the dinosaurs are a favourite with quite a few of our children! We have spent time outdoors in the nice weather and have had fun with the chalks on the path outside preschool. This week we have been looking at Nursery Rhymes. Showing an awareness of rhyming is something we learn at preschool.
On the craft table, we started looking at a new wall display which will incorporate everything we are looking at in nursery rhymes. On the maths table, we have been looking at matching shapes using our shape activity box. And on the carpet we have been playing with the farm. Outside and in the hall up at school we have been working on balancing. Some children worked on writing their name and we have spent lots of time playing with the garage and the cars and the trains, as well has working on our fine motor skills by playing with the threading beads. We have also been baking and everyone made some yummy banana biscuits. The children did the weighing and measuring and stirring and we used lots of different sized bowls and spoons. Sound of the week is "f" Today was our last day at preschool before the Christmas holidays - we are all very excited about Christmas!
We had a little party and Father Christmas even dropped off some presents for us. He didn't come in as he's very busy at this time of year but we hear his sleigh bells and a knock om the door and when we opened it, there was a sack of presents for us! Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you back on Wednesday 4th Jan. Today we performed our Nativity play, all of the children were fabulous!
We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did :) This week we are learning about Remembrance Sunday and why we wear poppies. On the craft table we have made our own poppies with lolly sticks and circles of tissue paper (and even a bit of glittery sand!)
On the construction table, we have been playing with the magnets. Magnets are so interesting and great fun. We built cars and a house. Our sound of the week this week is "g" This week in preschool we have been looking at Bonfire Night. With the help of Fireman Sam, we had a little chat about being safe on bonfire night.
In the role playing area, we dressed up as firepeople and played with the fire engine. Playing co-operatively is fun at pre-school. We also had out some big jigsaws and made four puzzles to do with the emergency services. On the craft table we made rockets. Zooooooooom! We have also spent time in the garden - there are still conkers to be found if you look carefully! |
