This week we have been looking at preschool and also our family.
On the craft table we have been doing sponge printing with shapes. We are looking at learning to identify and name shapes and at recognising them in the environment. We are still looking after our caterpillar in preschool which is wonderful as we can observe it in its environment. We have also had the green playdoh out and had a playdoh disco! On Monday we went to the school hall and played with the parachute, with the letters "s", "a", "p", "t" and shapes square, triangle, circle and rectangle. During this week we've also spent time outside and in the garden - we love collecting conkers! This week we are continuing to look at and investigate our pre-school and learning how to settle in.
On the craft table we did some number printing. We looked at the numbers 1-5. Recognising numbers is something we learn at preschool. We created an environment for the dinosaurs to play in on the nature table by adding pine cones, sticks and other natural materials. We have also been in the garden to see if the conkers are ready yet... collecting conkers is something we all enjoy so look out for pockets stuffed with conkers from now on! We built tall towers with the building blocks and then tried to huff and puff and blow them down like the big bad wolf. Phonic this week is "t" As well as carrying on with making and drwing pictures of ourselves, we made hand puppets of our families - come in and see our new "this is me" display.
On the maths table, we had the number tray out and looked at number names and number language. We looked at reciting number names in sequence. We all walked round the village and to Sally B's on Monday to buy our snack. Our sound/letter of the week this week is 'a'. On the craft table we have been making and drawing pictures of ourselves. We recognised a circle, cut it out and then created our faces on the circle. We looked at where our eyes, nose and mouth are...
We have also been building some fantastic buildings with the Duplo and had the car mats out. On the maths table we had all our wooden puzzles out and matched up the numbers to the same amounts of small animals. Hope you've all had a lovely summer holiday. We are looking forward to the new year at pre-school and getting to know some new friends.
