This week we have been looking at insects, spiders and other creepy crawlies and have done lots of fun things. We have been outside with our magnifying glasses looking for insects and have visited a pond to look at some tadpoles. We have had the plastic bug models out at preschool and have compared these to what we have seen in real life. Outside, we drew our own pictures of tadpoles using the chalks.
On the games table, we have played the "Insey Winsey Spider Game" and "ladybird dominoes" which help us to count. We have read some lovely books too - "growing frogs" and a book all about ladybirds. We have also been looking at "Easter" and as part of this, have looked at ovals and eggs. We even had an egg-rolling competition on the slope outside preschool. On the craft table we made Easter chicks which pop out of their shells. ![]() We are still looking at Spring and have now put up our wall display - please pop in to have a look. Everyone helped with the cutting and sticking and we put up the sheep we made last week and have made some beautiful flowers out of tissue paper. We had a whole bag full of mixed up letters and the children helped to find S-P-R-I-N-G for the title of the display and we all talked about who has which of those letters in their name. On the construction table, we have been playing with smaller building blocks than usual. This helps our physical development by allowing us to manipulate different sized objects. It was trickier to make towers out of the smaller bricks. On the puzzle table, we have been weighing things and finding out which objects are light and which are heavy. We also did some counting and looked at comparing numbers with quantity and weight. Outside we played with the water and looked at how water flows - we made a river all the way down the slope and under the gate! Until the Easter holidays, we will still be looking at "a" "s" "t" and "p" so that everyone is familiar with these sounds before we move on. |
