On the craft table we have been making numbers using the stencils and decorating them. It was fun practising cutting and sticking. We have also been looking at recognising the numbers 1-5 and matching numbers to quantity.
Also on the craft table, we have had the modelling clay out and have used all of the tools in order to make some very interesting creations.
Some of the children have been playing shops. This kind of role playing game is great for the imagination and the children also made their own money on the writing table to spend in the shop.
On the construction table we have been playing with the interstars
Letter and sound of the week is 'r'.
This week we are looking at weighing and balancing. On the maths table we had the scales out and looked at how to weigh our toys and whether we had to put blocks into the tray or take them out in order to make the scales balance. We also counted toys into and out of the scales.
On the puzzle table we have been looking at height and age and the children completed a puzzle with children of different ages and heights and described who was taller or smaller, older or younger.
We have done lots of super singing and sang the jolly phonics songs. This week we are looking at the letter 'u'. On the writing table, some of the children have practised writing their names. We are looking at how to form the letters of significance to us.
Several days this week, we have cleared away all of the tables and chairs and have worked on throwing and catching a ball. We had some children with great co-ordination, even some of our two-year-olds could catch nicely!
Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and that those bugs which seemed to be hanging around before Christmas have gone.
This week we have been looking at how we move and at dancing. After snack we experimented with moving our arms and our legs.
We are also starting to introduce the language of time and made a clock puzzle which showed us lots of times in the day. On the craft table, we made clocks and used our numbers to count up to 12. As part of this, we practised drawing and cutting out circles.
We have spent time looking at the computer and have learnt that information is retrieved from a computer as well as from books. We looked at the word "Wow" and printed it out.
This week was our first week where children were able to stay for a Wednesday afternoon. We have five children who stayed and everyone seemed to have lots of fun.
